I graduated from Scottsboro High School and then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I remained in Birmingham for medical school and graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2007. I then completed my residency through UAB at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham in 2010 and I am board certified in Pediatrics.
I have been working at Marshall County Pediatrics, P.C. since completing my residency. My husband, Brad, and I started our own family after moving to Guntersville. We have a son, Parker (2011) and a daughter Madison (2014), who are both special little blessings and an endless source of joy!
I wanted to be a physician since I was a young girl of about 7 years of age. Like many who go into this field, my goal is to make a difference. In my opinion, there is no other area of medicine that makes a more lasting difference than a pediatrician. There are so many wonderful opportunities to teach, mentor and guide both the children and their families over the many years of seeing them come in for both check-ups and sick visits. There is really nothing better than watching a small infant grow and develop over time into a healthy young adult except to have the privilege of playing a role in that process! I have always enjoyed my career, but after becoming a parent too, I think it makes my job even more special. I now realize how wonderful and challenging parenting can be and consider it an honor each time a parent chooses me to partner with them in taking care of their own children.

I am a graduate of Boaz High School. I attended Gadsden State Community College where I received my Associates Degree in Nursing in 1998 and was then licensed as a Registered Nurse through the Alabama Board of Nursing. I was working as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department when I decided that I wanted to have a more positive impact on the lives of my patients and be proactive in their care, instead of only treating them at the time of illness. I then attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville where I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Nursing, and later, my Masters of Science in Nursing, with my focus in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. In 2004, I received my Board Certification and was licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
I am Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I have worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Marshall County community since 2004 and have directed care for patients across the lifespan, from newborns to the elderly. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I worked as a Registered Nurse in the Marshall Medical Center South Emergency Department. I have been working here at Marshall County Pediatrics, P.C. since 2010.
While working in the Family Practice area, I discovered that I really enjoy working with pediatric patients. I enjoy watching these children and families grow, and being a positive influence in their lives. It is very rewarding to be able to discuss with and teach parents what they can expect as their children grow and to be able to answer questions and provide reassurance during times of illness. As a parent myself, this is something that I greatly appreciated regarding the care of my own child. Every day is an adventure when working with children; you never know what they are going to say.
My husband and I have chosen to make our home in Boaz. We have one daughter that keeps us laughing and always on our toes. I enjoy reading and gardening and am active in the Children's Ministry at our church.
